A new building on a historic property should feel right at home. For this project, Rockbridge Homes and Barns built a detached garage that complements the existing historic house while giving the homeowners practical space for parking, storage, and hobbies.

The exterior combines white lap siding, a classic gabled roof, and carriage-style garage doors. Decorative black door hardware and lantern-style lighting add traditional touches, while divided-light windows complete the look. Together, these details give the garage a timeless appearance that suits its setting among mature trees.

Inside, the layout offers more than a place to park. There is room for two cars, along with a separate room that can serve as a workshop or dedicated storage area. This flexible space gives the homeowners a place for tools, gardening supplies, or projects while keeping the parking area available for vehicles.

Attic storage adds another useful feature, providing room for seasonal decorations and other items that don’t need to be within everyday reach. By making use of the space above the garage, the building offers additional storage without increasing its footprint.

The side entrance features double doors with divided-light glass, carrying the traditional styling around the building and providing convenient access without opening the garage doors.

We’re proud to have created a garage that brings together thoughtful design and everyday usefulness. With space for two vehicles, a separate workshop or storage room, and additional attic storage, this new building will serve the homeowners for years to come—all while complementing the character of their historic home.
